In this program we'll be celebrating Robert Rich and two of his recent transcendent collaborations, demonstrating the prolific nature and vast spectrum of Robert's ability to dive head-first into the creative space with other artists. The first collab we'll be featuring is with Barry Cleveland, taking us through an enrapturing musical journey made up of a complexly woven tapestry of sonic ideas that ranges from the quiet and contemplative to dramatic and near-cataclysmic spaces. Then later on in the program we will drop in on the incubative space that Robert created with musician and composer Markus Reuter — with an album that is contemplative, at times near unsettling, and an alchemic journey through the blending of two minds and two lived experiences. Plus up ahead, new music from Andrew Lozano, Christian Alsemgeest and Metric System 1981, Beyond Sensory Experience and more. In this program I’ve got two vastly different, but emotive tracks that I think you’re going to absolutely love. Eighteen-year-old pianist and composer Alanna Crouch has a moving four-song EP that is somber, delicately ornate, and unconditionally gorgeous. And the duo Chris Wood and Albert Sapsford have a new album out that is quite imaginative, deeply experimental, and sets a liminal atmosphere for the imagination. Plus up ahead, new music from Atmøsphäre & Dionisaf, BinJa, Adrian Lane, Ambiente Solstice, and more. In this program I'm giving you a taste of what's in store for the upcoming new season of The Relay Station, a sort of holiday stocking stuffer for your inbox with some delightful sonic treats for this wintry season. I have two featured artists on the program that both defy stylistic boundaries and have tracks that bring a different sentiment for the holiday season. My first featured artist is Clarice Jensen who has a unique take on the neoclassical genre, introducing looped cello with a variety of effect pedals to produce a mesmerizing work. And Louis Gardner's ambient-inspired lo-fi folk has me absolutely enamored — enough to break my own rules of no music with sung vocals on the program, and share with you an enchanting and deeply pensive track. Plus up ahead, new music from Ed Herbers, Twilight Sleep, Paul Beaudoin, City of Dawn and more. In today's program my two featured albums cover vastly different ends of the ambient spectrum, and I’m totally there for it — one laying the foundation for peace and serenity, and the other stirring you up towards awareness and vigilance. In the first hour, my first featured album comes from the collaboration between Australian artist Uuxe and Canadian ambient artist Gollden, who’ve put together a serene EP that is ripe for the times. And later in the program, a poignant new EP from Los Angeles based multidisciplinarian artist Yann Novak with striking reflection of our current social, technical, and political landscape.
